All gardens whatever the size can accommodate spring bulbs. Planted either directly in the soil or in pots, bulbs bring a valuable injection of early colour to gardens. If you're new to gardening crocus, narcissus and tulips are good bulbs to start with and readily available.

I like to plant bulbs in pots placed in areas which can be seen from the house or beside doorways. Pleasure comes not just when they flower, but also watching as the first shoots appear with the anticipation of what is to come and the heralding of true spring.
